Adult size - 56-60 cm (22-24 in ) circumference of the head Child size - 44-48 cm (17-19 in) circumference of the head Yarn worsted weight MC - main color approximately 100gr CC - contrast color - approximately 30 gr. Needles - set of double pointed needles US #5 16 in circular needled US # 5 @2012 Galina Fedtchenko Gauge 19 sts x 26 rounds in 4 in (10cm). Technique used - knitting in-a-round, increasing, decreasing, ribbing, color work (fair isle). Level - advanced beginner. Hat pattern has 8(7) repeat of chart with Fair Isle. Note: when knitting Fair Isle pattern make sure you are crossing threads on WS of work - that technique will keep yarn loose enough not to jam the knitted fabric. Pattern CO 4 sts and place on to 3 DPN, knit in a round, PM. Round 1: kfb 4(3) sts, k0(1) - 8(7) sts; Round 2: kfb - 16 (14)sts; Round 3: (k1, kfb)8(7) times - 24(21) sts Round 4 and all even rounds to round 21: knit; Round 5: (k2, kfb) 8(7) times - 32(28) sts; Round 7: (k3, kfb) 8(7) times - 40(35) sts; Round 9: (k4, kfb )8(7) times - 48(42) sts; Round 11: (k5, kfb )8(7) times - 56(49) sts; Round 13: (k6, kfb)8(7) times - 64(56) sts; Round 15: (k7, kfb) 8(7) times - 72(63) sts; Round 17: (k8, kfb)8 (7) times - 80(70) sts; Round 19: (k9, kfb) 8(7) times - 88(77) sts; Rounds 21: knit; Round 22: (k10, kfb) 8(7) times - 96(84) sts; Rounds 23-24: knit; Round 25: (k11, kfb) 8(7) times - 104(91) sts; Rounds 26-27: knit; Round 28: (k12, kfb) 8(7) times - 112(98) sts; Rounds 29-54: motif; Round 55 - 56: knit; Rounds 57-61: [k1, p1] ribbing. BO all sts or OPTIONAL you can knit inner hat for cold \ Tomakeinnerhat Round 62: you can choose between those 2: Option 1: purl Option 2: yo, p2tog. This will help to make a nice hem. Rounds 63-122 - work as rounds 61-1 only with one color of your choice - MC or CC - 8(7) sts. Cut yarn leave about 2 in tail. Pull all sts through, tight and secure yarn tail.
