Horseshoe Lace Hat & Scarf

The Horseshoe Pattern is one of the basic Shetland lace stitches, which originated in the United Kingdom's Shetland Islands in the early 1800s, and can be found in may stitch dictionaries. The pattern is a simple 8 row repeat, knit over any multiple of 10 stitches plus 1 (i.e. - 41, 61, 91, etc.). This pattern utilizes the horseshoe lace design to make a featherylight scarf and matching hat. You can easily adjust it to accommodate different weight yarns or your preferred garment measurements. While the scarf is knit in back-and-forth rows, the hat is knit in the round. Instructions are given in long-hand and are accompanied by a chart for the horseshoe lace pattern.
