A simple ribbed hat that knits up quickly and utilizes two needle sizes to ensure a great cozy fit.
Materials needed:
1 skein Knitpicks Brava Bulky Colorway: Fairy Tale Size US 8/5mm circular needles Size Us 11/8mm circular needles 1 stitch marker Gauge: 16 st. by 21 rows on smaller needles per 4" of pattern stitch. Knitting Terms: k:knit p: purl k2tog: knit two stitches together
THE PATTERN
Cast on 64 stitches on smaller needles. Join for working in the round, placing marker to denote beginning of round. Round 1: \*k3, p1\* to end of round. Repeat Round 1 until piece measures 2 inches from cast-on edge. Switch to larger needles. Repeat Round 1 until piece measures 6 inches from cast-on edge.
Decrease Rounds:
Dec. Rd. 1: \*k2tog, k1, p1\* 16 times (48 stitches) Dec. Rd. 2: \*k2, p1\* to end of round
Dec. Rd. 3: \*k2tog, p1\* 16 times (32 stitches) Dec. Rd. 4: \*k1, p1\* to end of round Dec. Rd. 5: \*k2tog\* around (16 stitches) Dec. Rd. 6: \*k2tog\* around (8 stitches) Cut yarn and weave through stitches on needles. Weave in ends and block if desired. Happy Knitting!
