BABY BUMBLE BEE Hat
Cast on 72 sts with mc.
Gauge: 5 sts/inch
Round 9 Change to cc, knit around. Join 72 sts, careful not to twist, pm. Work in k2, p2 ribbing for 8 rounds with mc. Round 10: At beginning of round 10, slip the first st as if to purl, knit around.
Materials:
Cascade 220 WOOL (220 yards/201m, 100% Peruvian Highland wool)1 skein each mc and cc OR Plymouth Yarn ENCORE WORSTED (200 yards/183m, 75% acrylic, 25% wool) 1 skein each mc and cc Rounds 11 -15: Knit around. Round 16: Change to mc, knit around. Round 17: At beginning of round 17, slip the first st as if to purl, knit around. Needles: US 6 (4.0mm) 16"circular needle or size needed to get gauge; matching size dpns or a second circular needle for crown decreases. Rounds 18 - 22: Knit around. Round 23: Change to cc, knit around. Round 24: At beginning of round 24, slip the first st as if to purl, knit around. Measurements: Hat measures approx. 5.5" to 6" tall from cast on to top, and approx. 14" to 15" around stretching to approx. 20" around. Rounds 25 - 29: Knit around. Round 30: Switch to mc and knit around. You will now start the crown decreases. Switch to dpns or use a second circular as needed. Round 31: Sl1, k5, k2tog, (K6, k2tog) repeat around.

mc = main color cC = contrast color sts = stitches sl1 = slip 1 stitch pm = place marker dpns = double point needles Round 34: (K3, k2tog) repeat around. Round 33: (K4, k2tog) repeat around. Round 35: (K2, k2tog) repeat around. Round 36: (K1, k2tog) repeat around. Round 37: K2tog around. K2tog one more time, 8 sts remain. I-cord finishing: Use 4 sts for each i-cord, approx 1" to 2". Note: Pattern can easily be adapted for larger sizes by casting on more sts for a larger circumference, and adding an extra stripe sequence for added height.
