Pattern:
c/o 16 sts. Work for 3.5" in stockinette stitch. Break yarn. Using circular needle (for flexibility), pick up and knit 12 sts along one of the long edges. k 16 live stitches from straight needle. Pick up and knit 12 sts along other long edge. (40 Ssts total) Row 1: p across Row 2 (set-up): k5, pm, k10, pm, k10, pm, k10, pm, k5 Row 3: p across Row 4 (lncrease row): \*k to 1 st before marker, kfb, sm, kfb, repeat from \* to end of round. (48 sts total) Work rows 5 and 6 for 3-6 months only. Row 5: p across Row 6: Repeat row 4 (increase row) Work in stockinette for 2", then work another increase row. \*Work 3 rows, followed by an increase row, followed by 3 rows, followed by an increase row. (64 sts total)\* 3-6 months only: Repeat from \* to \* once more. Continue to work in stockinette st until work measures 3.5" (4.5") from picked-up seam, or until work measures 1/2" less than desired length. Work 7 rows in garter stitch. Cast off on wrong side of work. Pick up 50 stitches along bottom edge of bonnet. Work 7 rows of garter stitch. Cast off on wrong side of work. Bonnet Tes: Pick up 3 sts along the front of the bottom edge of the work and work in i-cord for 7" (9"). Repeat on other side of bonnet. Weave in ends.
