KNITTING PATTERN for Hat Pamela
Sizes: preemie/newborn/3-6m/6-12m/1y With head circumference 12"/14"/16"/17"/18" (31/36/41/43/46cm)
Materials:
Fingering / 4 ply (14 wpi) yarn (like Alize Lino), two colors 25-40g Pointed knitting needle size US 4 (3.5 mm) Sewing/yarn needle 1 button/bead for decorating Crochet hook C/2 (2.5 mm)
Gauge:
4" x 4" = 24 sts x 28 rows (stocking stitch)
Hat
Sizes: preemie/newborn/3-6m/6-12m/1y \*\*\*
Pattern V1
Rounds 1 and 2: \*k5, p1\* all across Round 3: \*k2tog, yo, k1, yo, ssk1, p1\* all across Round 4: \*k5, p1\* all across Repeat rounds 1-4 You start the hat bottom up working the two earflaps back and forth. Later you add stitches and continue working in round. \*Cast on with double thread of your main yarn 4 stitches. Row 1: knit all stitches Row 2: sl1, k3 Repeat row 2 for 10" (25.5 cm). Now continue increasing: Row 1: sl1, kfb,kfb, k1 Row 2 and every alternate row: sl1, k all across Row 3: sl1, k1, kfb, kfb, k2 Row 5: sl1, k1, kfb, k2, kfb, k2 Row 7: sl1, k1, kfb, k4, kfb, k2 Row 9: sl1, k1, kfb, k6, kfb, k2 Row 11: sl1, k1, kfb, k8, kfb, k2 Row 13: sl1, k1, kfb, k10, kfb, k2 Row 15: sl1, knit till end Row 16: sl1, k all across\* Cut the yarn, leave this earflap on the needle, take two needles and repeat from \*-\* for the other earflap. Now after you finish the 2cnd earflap, mark the last stitch of the earflap so the rounds would be easier to follow and you measure the height of the hat from here. Continue working in round as follows: Cast on 5/8/9/13/15 stitches after the 2cnd earflap (this will be the back of the hat), purl all stitches from the 1st earflap, cast on 7/10/15/17/21 stitches (this will be the front of the hat). You will have 48/54/60/66/72 stitches on your needles. Purl 4 rounds more. Continue working with one thread of yarn and pattern V1 (see above) till the hat measures from the marker 4"/4"/5"/5.5"/5.5" (10/10/12.5/14/14 cm) and you have ended with rounds 1,2 or 3 of pattern V1, start decreasing: Round 1: \*ssk, k1, k2tog,p1\* all across Rounds 2, 3 and 4: \*k3, p1\* all across Round 5: \*sl1, k2tog, passo, p1\* all across Round 6 and 7: knit all stitches Round 8: \*ssk\* all across Round 9: knit all stitches Cut the yarn, pull it through remaining stitches, tighten & fasten. Weave in all ends.
Flower
Take your crochet hook and yarn B. Ch 39. Row 1: 1 dc into 6th ch from hook, \*ch 1, miss 2 ch, (1 dc, 2 ch, 1 dc) all into next ch\*; repeat from \*_\* to end. Row 2: ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 5 dc into first 2 ch space, (1 sc into next ch space, 6 dc into next 2 ch space) twice, (1 sc into next 2 ch space, 8 dc into next 2 ch space) 4 times, (1 sc into next 2 ch space, 10 dc into next 2 ch space) 5 times. Fasten off. Roll the flower together and attach with few stitches, decorate it with a bead or button and sew it on the hat band. \*\*\* Note: You can sellfinished items made from this pattern but please do not resell the patterns as I have put a lot of effort into designing and testing them.
