Doggie Calorimetry
This was actually just a swatch for the first calorimetry I made, but if you want a calorimetry for your dog to match yours, try this. Yarn: Paton's Decor (worsted weight), less than 1 ball Size US 7 knitting needles gauge: about 6 sts and 5 1/2 rows per inch.

Completed headband is about 5" wide and 3" long, unstretched. It fits a small dog. For a larger dog, measure around his head, under his chin, and cast on enough stitches to meet that width (approx. 6 sts per inch). Adjust the length to cover your dog's forehead.

Cast on 34 stitches. Work in 2x2 rib for 3" (knit 2, purl 2). Cast off loosely. Using the tail from the cast on, sew the bottom corners of the swatch together. Weave in your cast off end. At left you can see how the completed headband looks. The connected part goes under the doggie's chin. You can also use your doggie's headband as a swatch to complete your own calorimetry headband.

Here's my sister Tara wearing the matching Calorimetry that I made from this swatch The original Calorimetry pattern from Knitty can be found at http: //www.knitty.com /ISSUEwinter06/PATTcalorimetry.html
