Row 3: \*(Knit 7, k2tog); repeat from \* to last st, k1. Row 5: \*(Knit 6, k2tog); repeat from \* to last st, k1. Row 7: \*(Knit 5, k2tog); repeat from \* to last st, k1. Row 9: \*(Knit 4, k2tog); repeat from \* to last st, k1. Row 11: \*(Knit 3, k2tog); repeat from \* to last st, k1. Row 12: P1, \*(p2tog, p2); repeat from \* across row. Row 13: \*(Knit 1, k2tog); repeat from \* to last st, k1. Row 14: P1, \*(p2tog); repeat from \* across row.
Size: to fit ages: 4-6 (8-10)
Gauge: 20 sts = 4" using size US 8 needles over st st or size necessary to obtain gauge. Needles: US 6 & 8 needles, bobbins if desired to carry contrasting color. MC used: #174 Cranberry. CCs used: #599 Db1 Chocolate; #1202 White Chocolate. K2, P2 rib: RS rows: \*(K2, p2); repeat across to last 2 sts, end k2. WS rows: Work sts as they appear. Hat: With larger needles and MC, cast on 90 (98) sts. Change to smaller needles and work 4 rows garter stitch. Work 6 rows K2, P2 rib. Work 4 rows garter stitch, increasing 1 (3) sts on last row: 91 (101) sts. Change back to larger needle. With Cranberry continue in st st for 2 rows. Begin chart for paw prints, work 2 MC sts at the beginning of the row, 2 MC sts between each chart repeat, and 3(2) MC sts at the end of the row. When chart is finished, continue even in st st in MC until total length is 5 (5'/2)", ending with a WS row. Begin decreases: Row 1: \*(Knit 8, k2tog); repeat from \* to last st, k1. Row 2 and all even rounds until round 10: purl.

Cut yarn, thread through remaining sts, anchor. Sew up side seam.
Dog bone: (MAKE 2) With color 1202, cast on 10 sts. Starting with a purl row, work in st st for 3 rows. Row 4: K1, ssk, ssk, k2tog, k2tog, k1: 6 sts. Continue in st st for 7 rows. Row 12: K1 (make 1, k1) 2 times, (k1, make 1) 2 times, k1: 10 sts. Work in st st for 3 rows. Bind off knitwise. Duplicate st dark brown ( color 599) spots- 3 of them asseen in photo= 2 sts for each spot. Sew the 2 pieces together, sewing as flat & thin a seam as possible, stuffing lightly prior to sewing last end. To attach bone to hat, make a twisted cord using 2 strands of MC- each / yard long. When twisted cord is complete,trim to about 4". Stick loose ends through top of hat, tire knot & anchor inside. Attach the looped end to the bone with a strand of color 1202.
