But the periods of rain continue. So there's a lot of new growth in the garden. The red chrysanthemums that only produced a few sadlooking blossoms last
season are bursting with daisy-like blooms this year. The flowers are a deep shade of fuchsia with a bright yellow center. Size: 7 inches high and 36 inches around To adjust the size of the cowl, increase or decrease cast-on stitches in multiples of 4. Yarn: 1.5 skeins of Patons Astra (dk) yarn in Hot Fuchsia 1-3/4 ounce, 133 yards (50 grams, 122 meters) Needles: US 8 (5.0 mm) Additional tools: 1 stitch marker; darning needle Gauge: 15 rows x 17 stitches = 4"x4" unblocked.
Abbreviations used:
k- knit sl - slip k2tog - knit 2 together yo - yarn over psso - pass slip stitch over Cast on 140 stitches, placing a stitch marker to indicate the beginning of round. Join to knit in the round, taking care to not twist the stitches.
Set-up rounds:
Purl one round. Knit one round.
1st Pattern Stitch:
Round 1: \*(Keeping yarn to the back, sl 1 purlwise), k1, yo, (psso both the k1 and the yo together); rep from \* to last st. Round 2: knit all stitches Repeat rounds 1 and 2 twice more. Knit 3 rounds of stockinette (knit each round). Repeat rounds 1 and 2 of 1st Pattern Stitch one time. Knit 3 rounds of stockinette.
2nd Pattern Stitch:
Round 1: \*(K1, k2tog, yo, k1); repeat from \* around. Round 2: Knit each stitch. Round 3: \*(K2, k2tog, yo); repeat from \* around. Round 4: Knit each stitch. Round 5: \*(K2tog, yo, k2); repeat from \* around. Round 6: Knit each stitch. Round 7: \*(K1, k2tog, yo, k1); repeat from \* around. Round 8: Knit each stitch. Knit 3 rounds of stockinette. Repeat rounds 1 and 2 of 1st Pattern Stitch one time. Knit 3 rounds of stockinette. Repeat rounds 1 and 2 of 1st Pattern Stitch three times. Purl one round. Bind off loosely. Weave in ends. Block if desired.
