Finishing

Cut yarn, leaving approx. 10-inch $(25\,\mathsf{\,c m})$ tail. Thread tail onto needle and close top. Step 1: Thread tail through all stitches purlwise WITHOUT taking them off needles. Gently pull tail all the way through, but do NOT tighten. Step 2: Thread tail through each stitch knitwise and slip stitch off needle. Pull tail all the way through stitches; gently pull tail tight until hole is closed. Weave in all ends. Wear or gift happily.
