Pattern by Nutsaboutknitting Deborah Devlin Designs This is a terrific and easy way to turn those ordinary flip flops into extraordinary! It is also fun and quick project for using up leftover yarns too. Materials- Sample Project was completed using approx.1o0yards of Lily Sugar and cream, worsted weight # 4,100% cotton yarn in 2 colors."Pink" and "Yellow" Depending on what size you are making, you may need even less yardage. Size H8 (5.00mm crochet hook), gauge is not critical to make this project. Darning needle 1 pair of plain flip flops, narrow straps, any size.

Starting with the straps

Note:To make a sc around your straps. You will begin on left outerside of shoe, where the strap meets the sole. Next, using "pink" yarn, place a slip knot on your hook. Then, while holding your working yarn across the back of your strap, reach "under" your strap to catch working yarn, pull up 1 loop,(2Loops now on hook), yo, and pull through both of your loops on hook to complete the stitch,(1sc made) row 1- Leaving a 6" tail for weaving in later and beginning with a slip knot and working as above, make enough sc's across 1st strap until it is totally covered, making sure that they are stacked tightly together. Then, missing toe thong, continue across second strap in the same manner. ch1,turn (note: it is helpful to slide your stitches closely together as you work across.) row 2- 1sc into each sc of the previous row, fasten off. (repeat for 2nd shoe)

To Make Flower Blossom- (make 2)

rnd 1- Beginning with color "yellow", ch4, join last ch to 1st ch with a slst to form a ring,ch1, make 7sc into center of ring, join last sc to 1st sc with a slst, fasten off yellow.=(7sc) rnd 2- Join color pink with a slst in any space, make 2sc into each sc of the previous rnd, join last sc to 1st sc with a slst.=(14sc) rnd 3- \* ch5, miss next sc, join ch with a slst in following sc, rep from \* around, join last ch5 with a slst to 1st slst space from beg,= (7 Loops), fasten off leaving a 12" tail for attaching to front of flip flop. Finishing- Using yarn tail from each flower, sew in place on front of each flip flop working in the direction of your stitches. Then, using darning needle, thread yarn tails from straps under your sc stitches to secure and hide them.
