Caramel Ripple Hat

Materials
Yarn: 1 skein Rowan Cocoon in Amber (100g, 126 yds/ $115~\mathsf{m}$ $80\%$ Merino Wool, $20\%$ Kid Mohair) Needles: $\mathbf{16^{\prime\prime}}$ circular needles or double-pointed needles in Us Size 10.5 ( $.6.5\ \mathsf{m m}$ )OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE. Gauge: $15\;\mathsf{s t}/4^{\prime\prime}$ in stockinette stitch Stitches: $\mathsf{k}=$ knit $\mathsf{p}{=}$ purl $\mathtt{k2t o g=}$ knit the next 2 stitches together $\ p2\mathtt{t o g}=$ purl the next 2 stitches together $\mathsf{s l1}\!=$ slip one stitch from the left-hand needle to the right-hand needle purlwise.

${\mathsf{M C b l}}={\mathsf{M o c k}}$ cable $=$ Knit next two stitches together, leaving the stitches on the left-hand needle. Knit into the first stitch again and slide both stitches off the left-hand needle. Note: If you'd like a tighter brim, knit the first 6 rounds with a size 9 ( $:6.0\ \mathsf{m m})$ ndl.
Instructions
Cast on 80 sts. Join ends, being careful not to twist stitches (the hanging tail will mark the beginning of the round). K2, P2 to end of round. Repeat for 5 more rounds, or a total of 6 rounds. Round 1: $*_{\mathsf{M C b l}}$ , p2. Repeat from \* to end Round $2-4:*}{\mathsf{k}}2$ , p2. Repeat from \* to end. $6^{\prime\prime}$ Repeat Rounds 1-4 five more times or until hat measures from cast on edge. Work rounds 1 & 2 one more time. Begin shaping: Round 1: $\ast\mathsf{k}_{2}$ , p2, k2, p2tog. Repeat from \* to end (70 sts). Round 2: $\ast\mathsf{k}_{2}$ , p2, k2, p1. Repeat from \* to end. Round 3: \*k2tog, p2, MCbl, p1. Repeat from \* to end (60 sts). Round 4: $\ast\mathsf{k1}$ , p2, k2, p1. Repeat from \* to end. Round 5: $\ast\mathsf{k1}$ , p2tog, k2, p1. Repeat from \* to end (50 sts). Round 6: $\ast\mathsf{k1}$ , p1, k2, p1. Repeat from \* to end. Round 7: $\ast\mathsf{k1}$ , p1, k2tog, p1. Repeat from \* to end (40 sts). Round 8: $\ast\mathsf{k1}$ , p1. Repeat from \* to end Round 9: sl1, k2tog 20 times (the last stitch will use the last st of the rnd and the slipped st) (20 sts) Round $10\colon{\mathsf{k}}$ to end. Round 11: k2tog ten times (10sts). Round 12: k2tog five times (5sts). Break yarn, thread tail onto a tapestry needle, and run tail through remaining 5 sts., pulltight and fasten off. Weave in ends. Block to the desired shape.
