Crochet Pattern for Adorable Stuffed Pudding with Detailed Instructions and Variations

Pudding

Pattern illustration

When made from DK weight yarn the pudding is about 12cm (4 1/2 inch) in height. The mouth is needlefelted. This pattern will not include a tutorial on how to crochet or needlefelt. You can find tutorials for this everywhere. I learned to crochet from http://www.freshstitches.com/. I learned to needlefelt from http://woolbuddy.com/. If you have any questions, I am very happy to help you through email to the best of my ability. If you don't want to needlefelt, you can always buy felt sheets the same colours and cut out the features to sew or glue on instead. To make the pudding like in the picture, you will need: > DK weight yarn - pale yellow, cream, white, golden yellow/light brown G/6 - 4.0mm crochet hook Wool Roving - black Needlefelting tools > Foam block for felting on > Small amount of polyfill stuffing

Legend

> SC- Single Crochet > 2sC - Single crochet twice in the same stitch SCx2 - Single crochet once in each stitch the number of times, in this case, 2 SC2tog - Single crochet 2 stitches together to decrease > CH - chain stitch (xx) - xX numbers in the bracket give an indication of how many stitches in that round > (xx, yy rounds) - yy indicates how many rounds to repeat the same instruction for >[crochet instructions]x?? - Repeat the instructions inside the square brackets ?? times before continuing > I choose to start my pattern by chainingx2 and then crocheting in the 2nd chain from the hook. The alternative method is to start with the Magic Circle or if you have your won preferred method, definitely use that.

Use the yellow tail to sew the pudding onto the plate and lightly stuff. You can stuff more if you want it to be cute and chubby but it will make the plate slightly domed.

Pattern illustration

a clean attach, I used only the front loop of the pudding to sew onto the plat If you like a quicker and less annoying "plate", you can stop at round 9 and then in round 10, just SCx48 and then weave in the end.

The plate on the left is if you complete all the instructions.the one on the right is the easier plate.

Caramel

Round 1: CH2, SCx6 in the 2nd stitch from the hook (6) Round 2: 2SCx6 (12) Round 3: [2SC, SC]x6 (18) Round 4. [2SC, SCx2]x6 (24) Round 5. [2SC, SCx3]x6 (30) Round 6. SCx30 front loop only. (30) Round 7. SCx30 but with this stitch, crochet through both loops and the loop that you didn't crochet in the pudding. This will give a nice edge. (30) Round 8. [Skip a stitch, 5DC, Skip a stitch, SC]x7, SC (43) Leave a long tail. To keep the design, I sewed it on using the back loop of every second stitch.

Cream

Chainx45 From the 3rd stitch from the hook, DCx43 Leave a longer tail than normal. Coil the piece into a cone shape. It looks more cute and cream like if you make it slightly uneven. Then tack the coil together with the long tail so it holds it shape, stuff lightly and sew to the pudding.

After it is all sewn together, don't forget to embroider or felt the little smiley mouth on!
