If remainder is whole number, multiply by 16 to determine sts needed - i.e. 16=[(16/4) x 16] for 64sts. If remainder is a mixed number, multiply whole number portion by 16; and then multiply 16 by fractional portion and add together - i.e. 8.5= [(8/4) x 16] + [.5=(16 x .5)] = 32 + 8 for 40sts. To increase length - simply add more stockinette stitches, cables; or knit a few rows and complete theflower pattern again. Should size or length be increase, ensure to increase # of yarn skeins to allow for completion of pattern. > Pattern uses cabling, stranded colorwork, the stockinette stitch, and a garter bar or waste yarn to turn pieceto create character. The Stranded Colorwork technique of adding color calls for hand-manipulation of needles carrying CY, and is worked from left to right. For ease in following pattern, make a separate copy of the chart. Place a ruler under each line for better reading and to ensure accuracy of placing needles in HP. Draw a line through each row as it is completed.
Special Techniques Used:
E-wrap Cast-on: (can be worked from left to right, or from right to left - pattern written from left to right) a.Place required number of ndls for CO in HP; make a slip knot with yarn and place it on 1 st ndl. b.Wrap yarn counterclockwise (clockwise, if wrapping from right to left) around shaft of each ndl evenly holding previous in place as next is wrapped; until all ndls are casted-on Cable 4 Right (also called Right-Cross Cable): (see chart for cable crossing row) a. Place ndls called for in pattern in holding position. b. Using 2 - 2-prong transfers tools and working with 4 ndls at a time; remove 1st four sts fm ndls onto transfer tools. Hang left tool on adjoining ndls, to allow easier manipulation of right tool. c. Place sts from right tool onto 1st two ndls; then place sts on left tool onto 2nd two ndls. d. Repeat steps b-c across until all required sts have been crossed. e.Manually K 1 R. Stranded Colorwork (also known as Fair Isle) technique: a.Select ndls to be knitted in CY and place in HP. (Make sure to hold knitting back while moving ndls forward to eliminate issues.) b. Knit 1 R in MY as normal. c.Place CY on first ndl in HP, beginning from the right; leaving a 3-4" tail. (Use a clothes pin to stabilize yarn ends at beginning & end of pattern.) d. Pull ndl back manually to knit stitch - ensure stitch is same size as main knitted sts. e.Place CY over next ndl in HP and knit as before. Continue across, manually knitting all ndls in HP. All manually knitted ndl should now be in WP. f. For long floats, hook the CY directly into main WP ndls (ensuring that MY stays to the back and CY is pulled slightly to eliminate any slack). g· Repeat steps a-e until color pattern has been completed knitted. Cut yarn, leaving a 6in tail.
