Grandma Black's Dishcloth
Materials: (makes 2)
- One skein Sugar n' Cream worsted weight kitchen cotton - Size 10 straight needles Note: you can use any size from about 7-10, but the number of stitches you can increase to and still get two cloths per skein will change. Experiment a little. They're only dishcloths. -Yarn needle
Directions:
1. Cast on four stitches. 2. Knit (k) 4. 3. K2, yarn over (yo), k2. (You're increasing! Yay!) 4. K2, yo, k across. 5. Repeat row 4 until there are 40 stitches on the needles if you are using a solid color, 38 stitches if you are using variegated yarn. This is because the solid skeins are 2.5 oz and the variegated are only 2.0 oz. If you don't care if you make two that match from the same skein, make it as big as you want! 6. K1, knit 2 together (k2tog), yo, k2tog, k across. (You're decreasing! !yaY) 7. Repeat row 6 until there are 4 stitches left. 8. Cast off 9. Weave in ends Voila! The best dishcloth in the world! Be prepared for your family members to start dropping you strong hints that they would like you to make some for them. Or some more for them.
