Level: Easy (requires ability to knit, purl and knit 2 stitches together as one) A young at heart and spirit hat for the person on the go! Materials: 1 Skein of Raw Silk by Tilli Tomas plus 1 mini hank of Planet Earth Beaded Lace for contrast yarn , Size 9 Straight Needles, 1 Yarn Needle. Tilli Tomas yarns are fair trade oriented with women receiving a fair wage. Cast on 8o Stitches using Cable Cast On Method (Make sure you have wound your Pakucho Yarn into a ball. Yes, it really makes this hat!) START HATBORDER Rows A. Knit using 2 strand of the Raw Silk yarn in garter stitch which is Knit every row for $2~\!^{1/2}$ inches. STARTTHEBODY OF HAT Row 1 Right Side: Knit entire Row with 2 strands of Raw Silk. You will be knitting with 2 strands of yarn always. Row 2 Wrong Side: Purl entire Row Row 3 Right Side: Knit with one strand Raw Silk and one strand of the Beaded Silk contrast yarn a decrease. Begin a decrease by K2 tog every 6 stitches. (K2 tog means knit 2 stitches together as Onestitch) Row 4 Wrong Side: Purl entire row still using contrast yarn with your Raw Silk Yarn Row 5 Right Side: Knit now with 2 strands of Raw Silk for entire Row (not using the beaded silk, hold aside). Make sure you wrap the beaded silk around the strands as you start using the 2 Strands of Raw Silk again. Row 6 Wrong Side: Purl entire Row Row 7 Right Side: Knit row and begin another decrease by K2 tog every 5 stitches. . Make sure you wrap the beaded silk around the strands as you start using the 2 Strands of Raw Silk Again Row 8 Wrong Side: Purl entire Row Row 9 Right Side: Knit entire Row Row 1o Wrong Side: Purl entire Row Row 11 Knit with 1 strands of Raw Silk and 1 strand of Beaded Silk for entire Row. Make sure you wrap the Raw silk around the strands as you start using the contrast again. Also begin a decrease by K2 tog every 4 stitches. (K2 tog means knit 2 stitches together as one stitch) Row 12 Purl entire Row with contrast yarn knit WITH main Yarn Row 13 Knit with 2 strands of Raw Silk and no contrast across entire row. Row 14 Purl entire Row Row 15 Knit with one Raw Silk and one Strand of Beaded Silk entire Row. Make sure you wrap the beaded silk around the strands as you start using the 2 Strands of Raw Silk again. Row 16 Purl entire Row Row 17 Now again, Knit entire Row with 2 strands of Raw Silk only. Row 18 Purl entire Row Row 19 Knit by beginning a decrease by K2 tog every 3 stitches. (K2 tog means knit 2 stitches together as one stitch) Row 20 Purl entire Row still using contrast yarn with your Raw Silk Yarn Row 21 Knit with 1 strand of Raw Silk and 1 strand of beaded Silk for entire Row. Make sure you wrap the beaded silk around the strands as you start using the 2 Strands of Raw Silk again. Row 22 Purl entire Row with contrast yarn. Row 23 Knit row with 2 Strands of Raw Silk and begin another decrease by K2 tog every 2 stitches. Row 24Purl entire Row Row 25 Knit entire Row and begin another decrease by K2 tog all stitches Row 26 Purl entire Row and final decrease by K2 tog remaining stitches till 7 stitches remain. \*Leave 3 ftof yarn.Uing your yarn needl thread the end yarn and feed through the last 7 stitches pulling fairly tight. \*Fold hat in half with the wrong side facing you as you willbe stitching a seam. Using the yarn you just pulled through the stitches sew the side seams just under the first stitch. Once I get to the bottom of the hat Ilike to go back up and sew it up again to make sure it doesn't stretch too much and looks flawless. \*Important! Make sure you sew on the sides of the seam and not over the top of the seam. It will not be comfortable to the wearer if you stitch over the top of the seam. \*Weave in any loose ends.
