You can find decorative gems just about in any store that holds decorative products for housing. When you make earrings using these, you have to pick the smaller ones because the large ones might be too heavy to the ears. 1)Decorative stones that we need in this tutorial look like drops of water, which means they have an arching surface and a flat bottom. Turn both of them upside-down and cover the bottom with your Top coat nail polish and wait a few minutes for that to dry. This is meant to straighten the irregular surface of the flat bottom. 2) When it comes to coloring in the stone, you can do just about anything. You can use only one colored nail polish, or mix it up with glitter, or do whatever. For the purpose of this tutorial, 1 used my Colleen silver glitter and covered the transparent top coat layer. Make sure you use a thick layer of glitter polish. Leave to dry. 3)I love the new sand nail polish line by Look By Bipa brand because they last long and they're just beautiful. Using my favorite color Nr. 6 Glitter Turquoise, I smeared a thick layer over the dried Colleen silver glitter layer. Make sure you even out this layer otherwise your gem might looked too washed out. Let dry And that is a gem! Play with colors (nail polishes) and mix them up. Make beautiful gem
Wrapping the gem
1.25mm crochet hook, use the silver thread to make the surrounding cradle for the gem 1) Ch 15, slip stitch into the first Ch and connect the circle. 2) Ch 3, \*Dc into the circle, ch 1\*, repeat between \*\* 10 more times, sl st into the second chain of the beginning ch 3. 3) Ch 3, Dc into dc space all around, sl st into the second chain of the beginning ch 3. 4) Fit the gem face-down into the fitting and center it. Tighten the beginning and the end of yourwork 5) Cut your yarn, leaving about 20 - 30 cm of thread. Now, weave in around the dcs with your tapestry needle and pull to close the circle as much as it goes without breaking.

6) Thread the tapestry needles across the small remaining opening and make a double knot to secure your work. Weave in any loose ends from the front and the back. This is the cradle of the gem.
Finishing the earring
1) Pull through your silver thread that is about 20 cm long like so:

2) Make a double knot to secure it. 3) Slide your 8mm round bead down to the top of the gem. 4) Pull your thread through the silver ear hook and make a double knot. Pull the loose end through the other end of the bead to hide it. Weave in the other loose end. And voila:
