My experience as new mother is that socks are quite essential to keep my little daughter warm. However sometimes it seems impossible to find cute socks to match her outfit. So to make a beautiful outfit complete, I designed these little beautiful booties.

Abbreviations:
=Sstitches
Rs =right side
Ws =wrong side
P=purl
K=knit
Sl1 =slip 1 stitch, as if to purl
Yo =yarn over, make one stitch
K2tog =knit two stitches together (decrease one)
P2tog =purl two together (decrease one)
Ssk =slip 1 st knitwise, slip 2nd stitch knitwise, insert left needle into front of these two stitches, knit them together
Ssp =slip 1 st knitwise, slip 2nd st knitwise, return slipped st tp left needle, purl 2 together through back loop
wyf =bring the yarn to the front side of your work
wyb =bring the yarn to the back side of your work
PM =place marker
SM =slip marker
M1 =make one stitch, lift up strand between two stitches and knit this loop (create one stitch)
*repeat till end

These booties make a perfect last-minute baby(shower) gift, as they can be knitted in less than twohours! thanks to the aran weight yarn, they are also wonderfully warm and they look so cute on a little baby girl! The design is quite easy, so also suitable for a beginner. ctions are written for the preemie/newborn size, with the other sizes in parentheses

Beginning:

With colour yarn cast on 27 (31, 35, 39, 43) stitches, leave a long tail for seaming later on Row 1 (WS): knit all stitches Row 2 (RS): k1, M1, k12 (14,16,18,20), M1, place marker [PM], K1, M1, k12 (14,16,18,20), M1, k1 - total of 31 stitches (35, 39, 43, 47) Row 3: knit all stitches Row 4: k1, M1, knit to marker, M1, slip marker [sm], k1, M1, knit to 1 st before end, M1, k1 - total of 35 stitches (39, 43,47, 51) Preemie/newborn size: knit 8 more rows, remove marker knit 8 more rows, remove marker knit 8 more rows, remove marker knit 10 more rows, remove marker knit 10 more rows, remove marker

To create the ribbing of the sock: Row 11: sl 1 st, \*k1, p1\* till end Row 12: sl 1 st, \*p1, k1\* till end
