Using the long-tailed cast-on or something similarly stretchy, cast on 48 stitches. Divide evenly over 4 needles and join in the round, marking the beginning of the round with a stitch marker. Work in $2\mathbf{x}2$ rib for $1.5"$ [k1, p23, k24] for 4 rows, then begin working chart across the first 24 sts. You may find it useful to slip thefrststith to the $4^{\mathrm{th}}$ needle to prevent laddering, and if you have diffiulty with either charts or cables, try colour coding to make it easier. Work st st across last 24 sts. Continue in this way until row 16. Thumb gusset: Work row 17 of chart across first 24 sts. then Left glove: k15, k7 with waste yarn, then slip back to left needle, knit to end. Right glove: k2, k7 with waste yarn, then slip back to left needle, knit to end. Continue working as before until the end of the chart, then work decrease rows as follows: Row 1: kl, pl, ssp, p17, p2tog, pl, kl, ssk, k18, k2tog, k1 Row 2: knit Row 3: kl, pl, ssp, p15, p2tog, p1, k1, ssk, k16, k2tog, k1 Row 4: knit Row 5: k1, pl, ssp, p13, p2tog, p1, k1, ssk, k14, k2tog, k1 Row 6: knit Continue in this manner until 16 stitches remain. Use kitchener stitch to join the top edges. Cut yarn and weave in ends. NOTE FOR ROW 31: At the k3tog, rearrange stitches on the needle to match the order they should be knitted in. When you try to k3tog from the cable needles, it will be far easier to have them in order to start with. Thumb: Pick up 7 stitches either side of waste yarn, plus 1 on each side between needles. Remove waste yarn. Join yarn and knit in st st in the round for 1.5", then work decreases as follows: Row 1: \*k1, ssk, k2, k2tog, k1, repeat from Row 2: knit Row 3: $^{*1}\mathrm{k}1$ , sk, k2tog, k1, repeat from \* Row 4: knit Row 5: \*ssk, k2tog, repeat from \* Row 6: knit Break yarn and join top of thumb with kitchener stitch. Weave in ends. Chart
