Pattern illustration

Designed by Tallgalknits @2010 An adorable snuggly baby blanket for the little elf or pixie in your life. The blanket stitch is based off of from Barbara Walker's Elfin Lace pattern, a simple lace repeat that can be widened or lengthened as desired. The simple edging options give the knitter the choice of something a little more delicate if they choose the crochet picot edging versus the garter trim. The bamboo/wool blend will make the blanket a delight for whoever the lucky baby is, not too warm, not too cool, just right for snuggling in for a nap! Size: One size fits all Length: $34\mathrm{x}36^{\prime\prime}$ Blocked Materials: DK weight yarn, 700-800 yards Yarn used: Sirdar Snuggly Bamboo $95\mathrm{m}/104$ yds $80\%$ Bamboo source Vicose, $20\%$ Wool 7 or 8 skeins depending on edging chosen - 7 for crochet, 8 for garter. Do not break yarn, Chain 1, turn work. \*Chain 3, slip stitch at end of chain into the 1st chain, single crochet in the next three stitches, repeat from \* across edge. If you choose you may do this around the entire blanket or just along the top and bottom borders. The single crochet with the slipped knit stitch will have created an eyelet lace that is quite attractive should you prefer to only do the picot on the top and bottom borders. To pick up for opposite border, rejoin yarn on edge with a slipknot loop, single crochet 1 in first edge stitch, \*chain 3, slip stitch at end of the chain into the 1st chain, single crochet in the next three stitches, repeat from\* across edge. Break yarn and sew in ends. Garter Stitch Trim: Cast on 139 stitches total with #7 needle, work 10 knit rows, creating 5 garter ridges. Next Row (WS): K5, place marker, work Elven lace pattern beginning on R1 to last five stitches, pm, k5 R2 (RS), K5, slip marker, work pattern to last 5 stitches, slip marker, K5 Continue in this manner knitting the first and last 5 stitches always in garter.
