Materials:
- 3 colours of at least 109 yards each DK yarn or other weight that works with your hook or needles. I used 3 skeins Mirasol Llama Una, 100% llama, 109 yards/50 grams, in Gull, Gold, and Forest. Crochet item will be somewhat smaller than knitted item if you use the same yardage - 5.5 mm/us 9 circular or long needles to accommodate many stitches 5.0 mm hook for DK weight. I used a 4.5 mm hook with sport-weight yarn, and a 5.5 mm with worsted weight in Knit Picks Swish Worsted, 110 yards/ 50 grams.
Clue 2 (knit):
Notes:
You will begin and end each row with 2 knit selvedge stitches. For the spine, you will knit through the back loop on the right side and purl on the wrong side. Only one side of the chart is shown.
Garter-tab cast on:
With CA, cast on 2 stitches, knit 18 rows. Do not turn work at 18th row, but instead rotate 90° to the right and pick up and purl 9 stitches from the side, then rotate again and pick up and knit 2 stitches from the cast-on edge. 13 stitches cast on.
Begin Pattern:
Follow Chart 1, or the written instructions for Chart 1. Place a marker on either side of the spine stitch.
