Lines Scarf

Lines is inspired by the reeds beds that border Hebridean burns and lochans. It uses the green lines of reed stems and pompoms as seed heads in a light-hearted take on a natural scene.

Use Aran weight, in colours of your own choice. J.C. Rennie Chunky Tweed is recommendee Yarn A: 200g Yarns B, C, D, E,&F: 100g each Dinotes.. you can alsotwist a strand of4-ply with DKor3 strands of4-ply togetherto create yourown blend ofAranweight yarn! Needles 1 pair 5mm (no.3) (US 8) Tension 16 sts and 14 rows to 10cm measured over rib Finished Size Completed scarf measures 17cm (6% in) wide and 234cm (92 in) long, excluding pompoms.

Making Up

Using 5 mm and yarn A, cast on 27 sts. Row 1 (RS): K3, (P1, K3) 6 times. Row 2: P3, (K1, P3) 6 time. These 2 rows form rib. Cont in rib for a further 24 rows. Joining in and breaking off colours as required, cont in rib as foll: Using yarn B, work 26 rows. Using yarn C, work 26 rows. Using yarn D, work 26 rows. Using yarn E, work 30 rows. Using yarn A, work 34 rows. Using yarn B, work 26 rows. Using yarn C, work 32 rows. Using yarn D, work 34 rows. Using yarn E, work 36 rows. Using yarn A, work 32 rows, end with RS facing for next row Cast off in rib. www.digilpin.com Darn in all ends neatly along the selvage side or a colour join, as appropriate. Block out each piece of knitting using pins and gently press, using a warm iron over damp cloth. Using yarn F and using photograph as a guide, Swiss darn vertical lines onto ribs at random along entire length of scarf.
