Wedinas Shawl Paradise Bird
The Paradise Bird begins with the chrochet pattern Skull shawl/Doskallesjal by kungen och majkis (Ravelry). I love this wonderful pattern. The instructions are very detailed. It is easy to follow them. Additional I designed a knitting part with flowers and hearts. The knitted lace border may also be used for other triangular shawls. Work the schawl in one piece.

33g Zitron Extraklasse (100% Kidmohair, 1 skein = 25g = 225 m) Yardage for shawl: approx. 328 yards (300 m) of yarn Needle Size knitting needle US size 8 (5,0 mm) chrochet hook 3,5 mm Enjoy your needle work.
Instructions
Part 1: Chrochet pattern:
Use chrochet hook 3,5 mm. Follow the instructions of the pattern Skull shaw/Doskallesjal by kungen och majkis. I worked 6 Skulls until 200 chrochet stitches are reached. See the drawing shawl below. Finish the chrochet part with one row of single chrochets (UK: double chrochets). Then it is easier to collect the knitting stitches onto the needle.

Passing from chrocheting to knitting part
Part 2: Knitting pattern:
Cast on 200 stitches wiht knitting needle on right side. On wrong side purl and decrease 31 stitches evenly distributed = 169 stitches. It looks nicer to cast on all stitches at the beginning. No uggly space will occur. Work the pattern repeat Chart A (between the red lines) for 16 times. Begin the row with the stitches before the pattern repeat and end the row with the stitches after the pattern repeat. If you want a lace border which is less orbitant, you may decrease the number of pattern repeats. That means to reduce the number of stitches in steps of 10. Wrong side purl. Work from row 1 until row 16. Row 17 is shown again for reference only. Do only work row 17 chart B.
Chart A I Rapport/Pattern Repeat I Now follow chart B until row 28 is knitted. Work the pattern repeat Chart B (between the red lines) for 19 times. In row 29 make a chrochet bind-off with 1 chain-stitch between 2 bound-off stitches or 3 chain-stitches (see 3 circles row 29). Pay attention to the knitting symbols row 29. Use the chrochet hook like a knitting needle.
