Instructions for Easy Cowl
Pattern is worked in the round, no turning. Rnd 1: Make 68 fhdc and join without twisting. Adjust the stitch count to the quantity that you need to make the starting length measure 20.5" before joining. = 68 (or the count that you came up with to make your scarf measure 20.5") Rnd 2: Ch 2 loosely, hdc around, sl st in top of beg ch 2 to join. Make sure you have the same stitch count at the end of this round as you had at the end of the previous round. Note: The most common problem I've seen is that crocheters who are unfamiliar with joining a fhdc in the round will sometimes confuse the join and will put a stitch in that first space again when completing a round. Make sure you do not do that. Rnd 3: Ch 4 (counts as a tr), tr around. Sl st in top of beg ch 4 to join.Make sure you have the same stitch count at the end of this round as you had at the end of the previous round. Rnds 4-11: Rep rnds 2 & 3. Rnds 12-13: Rep rnd 2. NOTE: For a taller cowl, repeat rnds 2 & 3 until you have the height you want, then end with 2 rnds of rnd 2. Finish off. Weave in ends.
