Unisex Dress Kippah or Yarmulke

This beautiful kippah is a quick knit, designed for fingering-weight yarn. Worked in the round on double-point needles from the top down, it can be made up in a couple hours time. The design features a stylized 6-point “star" in the crown, 6 swirls of eyelet increases, and a triangular lace border of 12 points, signifying the 12 tribes of Ysrael. Size of completed item is One Size Fits Most (OSFM) teen or adult, male or female. Guage is not crucial, but I got 7.5 stitches / 10 rows to the inch. Shown in both a handdyed Merino wool sock yarn and a handspun 100% Rambouillet wool.
For this pattern, you will need:
Double-point needles in size US 2 (2.75mm) 40 to 60 yards of fingering-weight (sock) yarn

· to cast on increase (both Kfb [knit front and back] and yo [yarn over]) Knit and purl basic stitches decreases (both K2tog [knit 2 together] and ssk [slip, slip, knit through the back loops]) to bind off
Abbreviations used:
· Kfb - knit into the front of the stitch, leave it on the needle, knit into the back of the stitch, slip it off ·K -knit ·P-purl · yo - yarn over - bring yarn around end of working needle to the front of the work as if you would purl the next stitch, then over the needle to knit the next stitch ·k2tog - knit 2 stitches together ● ssk - slip, slip, knit - with yarn in back, slip the next 2 stitches to your working needle as if to purl. Insert holding needle tip into the front of the stitches and knit one stitch through them onto working needle. sk2p - slip one stitch as if to purl, to working needle. Knit the next 2 stitches together. Then use the tip of your holding needle to pass the slipped stitch over the newly-knitted stitch. This produces a centered, double decrease.
