This hat pattern came about after I was unable to find exactly what I wanted, and since I crochet very loosely, all the patterns that were similar what I wanted had gauges too tight for me, and it was difficult to adjust. So I took a few different patterns, and changed them up. The two main patterns I used as inspiration were the Bernat Softee Baby- Crochet Baby Hat, and the Best Baby Cloche (flower pattern) by Anneliese Shapiro. Materials: Any sport weight to worsted weight cotton yarn in 2 colors E hook for sizes NB-6mo F hook for size 9-12 mo Notes: Ch 3 at beginning of round counts as dc.
Hat:

Join to top of ch 3.(24 dc) 3. Ch. 3. 1 dc in same space as sl st. \*1 dc in next st, 2 dc in next st.\* repeat from \*around. Join to top of ch.3. 4. Ch.3, dc in same space as sl st. \*1dc in next 7 dc, 2dc in next dc\* repeat from \* around. Last set of increases may not be 7 dc apart. That's ok. For Sizes 6mo to 4-8 only: 12. repeat row 7. Switch to contrast color. Next 2 rows: Dc around. Switch back to main color. Next row: sc around. Work the shell edging: Do not ch. \*Sl st in next st, sc in next, 3 dc in next, sc in next, sl st in next.\* repeat around. Tack on a flower of your choice. I used the flower pattern from Anneliese Shapiro's Best Baby Cloche, available on Ravelry for free. I did the top flower in white, and the bottom petals in pink.
