Materials:

·l skein Araucania Huasco or approx. 450 yards of fingering weight yarn (for a triangular shawl at least 500 yards is recommended) · US 4 needles · 1 stitch marker . Tapestry needle . Scissors

Measurements:

The featured shawl was knit with 7 repeats of rows 18 - 33 of chart 1, and 5 repeats of chart 2. It measures 14.25" x 41.5".

Gauge:

27 stitches and 35 rows = 4 inches. The Seafarer is a small shawl that is designed to take advantage of my favorite lace pattern in a modern way It is worked sideways so the size is easily customizable to fit every person's tastes. Variegated sock yarn is suggested to take advantage of the slipped stitches in the body of the shawl.

PATTERN NOTES:

· Work chart 1. The first row of chart 1 is a wrong side row. Continue in pattern as established in rows 18 - 33 of chart 1 until about 1/3 of your yarn is used. (For a more triangular shawl, work chart 1 until a little less than half of your yarn is used.) · Start chart 2. Work until about 1/3 of your yarn is used. (For a triangular shawl, skip chart 2.) . Start chart 3. Work until 25 stitches remain. · Bind off loosely. · Block gently, just enough to open up the lace and allow the slipped stitches in the body of the shawl to lay fat. Weave in ends.
