Midsummer Nights Dream Scarf By Michelle Moyle

This is a simple scarf/shawl, it's really easy and ideal for a beginner. The scarf is a triangle shape, knit top down with a drop stitch pattern. 1 have used one skein of Fyberspates scrumptious 4ply yarn in Dandelion and Burdock for this scarf. It's gorgeous and with 45% silk it has a lovely shine, especially when the sun hits it. Yarn: Fyberspates scrumptious 4ply sport in Dandelion and Burdock 100g 365m 45% silk and 55% superwash merino - use more or less yarn depending how big you want your scarf to be! Needles: 4mm (straight needles, moving on to circulars depending how big you want to make your scarf Gauge: Not really important for this project. If you want the stitches to be looser use a bigger needle, if you want them to be tighter use a Smaller needle.
Abbreviations:
Co - cast on k-knit P-purl Yo - yarn over pm - place marker sm - slip marker kw3 - knit stitch wrapping yarn 3 times around needle instead of once, (like 3 x yo), creating a dropped stitch when the next row is complete. There is a great tutorial here www.newstitchaday.com/dropstitch/ for knitting the drop stitch.

If you haven't made a triangle shape scarf before the construction can take a bit of getting your head round. Once you have worked the first 16 rows you will start to see it taking shape. The eyelet holes run along the top edge of the scarf and the k2 stitches in the middle of the row form a spine down the middle. The stitches on your needles are the two sloping edges of the scarf.
To Start:
Co 8 stitches using your preferred method. Place marker row: k2, pm, yo, k1, yo, pm, k2, pm, yo, k1, yo, pm, k2. Row 1: k2, purl to the last 2 stitches, k2, slipping markers as you go. Row 2: k2, sm, yo, knit to next marker, yo, sm, k2, sm, yo, knit to the next marker, yo, sm, k2. Row 3: k2, purl to the last 2 stitches, k2 slipping markers as you go. Row 16: k2, sm, yo, kw3 until the next marker, yo, sm, k2, sm, yo, kw3 to the next marker, yo, sm, k2. Repeat rows 1-16 as many times as you like, I worked until 1 had nearly finished 1 skein of yarn, leaving enough to finish off.

To Finish: Having repeated the pattern as many time as you like ending with row 15 carry on as follows... Row 1: k2, purl to last 2 stitches, k2. Row 2: knit entire row Cast off loosely weave in ends and block I hope you enjoy this pattern!!
