Band: Cast on 13sts. R1 (WS): p2, k9, p2. R2 (RS): k2, (p1, kltbl) 4x, pl, k2. Repeat R1-2 until band measures 19" Decrease as follows: R1 (WS): p2, k9, p2. R2 (RS): kl, ssk, (k1tbl, p1) 3x, kltbl, k2tog, k1. R3: p2, k7, p2. R4: k1, ssk, (pl, kltbl) twice, pl, k2tog, kl. R5: p2, k5, p2. R6: kl, ssk, kltbl, p1, kltbl, k2tog, k1. R7: p2, k3, p2. R8: k1, ssk, pl, k2tog, k1. R9: pl, p3tog, pl. R10: k3tog. Cut yarn and pull through remaining stitch. Fold pointed end over CO edge and sew down.
Hat:
With RS facing and beginning opposite the tail of your CO, pick up 80sts from edge of band. Join in the round, leaving overlapping edge hanging, and place marker for beginning of round. Continue in St st until hat measures 5%2“. Decrease for crown: R1: (K8, k2tog) 8x. R2: Knit. R3: (K7, k2tog) 8x. R4: Knit. R5: (K6, K2tog) 8x. R6: Knit. R7: (K5, k2tog) 8x. R8: Knit. R9: (k4, k2tog) 8x. R10: Knit. R11: (k3, k2tog) 8x. R12: (k2, k2tog) 8x. R13: (k1, k2tog) 8x. R12: (k2tog) 8x. Cut yarn and pull through remaining 8sts. Weave in ends. Sew button to brim if desired.
