Masculine Manly Man's Scorfby Teagz Knitz
Pattern adapted by Tegan Graham from original pattern: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/checkerboard-scarf-7 by Phazelia. I do not take credit for the original design - this is an adaption from Phazelia's original and wonderful creation! Thank you to my wonderful 'model' husband - Matt Graham :D This gorgeous scarf I have named the Masculine Manly Man's scarf because everything about it screams 'tough man' @ although, in the right colour/s it could be quite feminine as well I used Patons Inca Yarn in dark grey - this is bulky 12 ply yarn so I am using 5.5mm needles. Use the recommended size needles as per your yarn choice.
Knitting know-how:
?Garter or Knit Stitch ?Casting On ?Binding Off ?Yarn Over ?Slip stitch (purl-wise with yarn in back) ?Knit 2 together

You will need.
Pair of 5mm (or as per yarn choice) knitting needles (straight or circular - knitters choice) Yarn (l used 435 meters or 475 yards to complete width of 22cm and length of 180cm of Patons INCA) Scissors Row counter (optional)
Abbreviations.
?CO: Cast On ?BO: Bind Off ?YO:Yarn Over ?K1: Knit and then number of sts ?Sts: Stitch/es ?SL1: Slip sts purl-wise with yarn in back ?R: Row/s
Notes
This pattern incorporates garter (or knit stitch) with Brioche stitch in a checkerboard pattern 3 squareswide. Brioche stitch is a 2 sts pattern as follows; K1, YO, SL1. Each time you come to a sts with a YO - ALWAYS knit the YO together with the Sts (photos below). We are not using YO to increase in this pattern but to create the vertical 'rib' look Brioche Stitch.
