Needles:
US 1.5 (2.5 mm) (or size needed to obtain gauge) circular needle: length needed for Magic Loop Note: Pattern is written for Magic Loop/Two Circulars.

Abbreviations
k: knit p: purl yo: yarn over k2tog: knit the next two stitches together p2tog: purl the next two stitches together w&t: wrap and turn sl: slip pm: place marker ssk: slip one stitch knitwise, slip the next stitch knitwise, knit these two stitches together cdd: slip the next two stitches together knitwise. Knit the next stitch. Pass the two slipped stitches over lli: Left Lifted Increase: insert left needle (from back to front) into stitch two stitches below the stitch on the right needle; knit this stitch through the back loop rli: Right Lifted Increase: insert right needle (from back to front) into stitch below the stitch on the left needle and place on left needle; knit this stitch WS: wrong side
Pattern Notes
The instructions for the lace patterns are included at the end of the pattern in both written and charted form. Each section is clearly labeled. Needle 1 is the instep/front leg and Needle 2 is the sole/back leg Because row gauge varies from knitter to knitter, you need to calculate how long to knit the foot of the sock before beginning the gusset increases. To do this, calculate 46 divided by your row gauge. Subtract this value from the total foot length to determine the length of the sock before beginning the gusset. 46/row gauge: (A) Foot length: (B) Length to knit before starting gusset: (C); C=B-A
Toe
Cast on 9 stitches to each of two parallel needles using Judy's Magic Cast On. Knit 1.5 rounds. You are now at the start of needle 1. Increase rounds: Round 1: (kl, rli, knit to last stitch on needle, lli, kl) on each needle Round 2:k Repeat rounds 1 and 2 until you have 27 stitches on each needle, ending with round 2.
Foot
Note: needle 2 is worked in stockinette (knit every round) until the start of the gusset increases. On needle 1, begin working Instep/Front Leg chart/written instructions. Continue working in pattern until sock measures C inches.
Gusset
While working needlle 1 in established lace pattern, on needle 2: Set up round: k1, lli, pm, knit to last stitch on needle, pm, rli, k1 Round 1: k, slipping markers as you come to them Round 2: k to marker, lli, slip marker, knit to next marker, slip marker, rli, k to end of needle Repeat Rounds 1 and 2 until a total of 28 stitches have been increased (55 stitches on needle 2). Remove markers when working the final increase round. End with Round 2. Next Round: on needle 1, work in established pattern. On needle 2, k14 (gusset), place 1s marker, k 27, place 2nd marker, k14 (gusset). Work needle 1 in established pattern.
Heel
Row 1: k to 1 stitch before 2nd marker, w&t Row 2: p to 1 stitch before 1st marker, w&t Row 3: k to last unwrapped stitch, w&t Row 4: p to last unwrapped stitch, w&t Repeat Rows 3 and 4 until there are 9 wrapped stitches on each side. On the first two rows of the heel fap, remove the markers as you come to them. Next row: Knit to the first wrapped stitch. Knit each of the next 8 wrapped stitches with its wrap. Work the final wrapped stitch as a ssk with the first stitch after the marker (slip the stitch and its wrap as one stitch, then the stitch after the marker and knit together). Turn. Next row: Slip the frst stitch, then purl across to first wrapped stitch. Purl each of the next 8 wrapped stitches with its wrap (remember to lift the wrap from the right side towards the back). Work the final wrapped stitch as a p2tog with the first stitch after the marker. Turn.
Heel Flap
Row 1: s1, k across to last stitch before gap, ssk with the next gusset stitch, turn Row 2: s1, p across to last stitch before gap, p2tog with the next gusset stitch, turn Repeat these two rows until there is one gusset stitch remaining on each side Next round: s1, knit to the last stitch before the gap, ssk, knit across instep in pattern, k2tog over first two stitches of needle 2, knit to end of needle 2. This is the new start of the round. Place marker if desired.
Leg set-up
Round 1: work needle 1 in pattern; on needle 2, work k9, rli, k9, lli, k9 Continue working needle 1 in established pattern and needle 2 in stockinette until you've finished working round 2 on needle 1.
Leg
Continue to work the Instep/Front Leg written instructions/chart on needle 1. On needle 2, work Back Leg written instructions/chart. otal of 20 times, or until sock is 1'"’ (2.54 cm) less than desired leg height, ending with round 1
Cuff
Ribbing:
Round 1: (pl, kl, pl, k5) around Repeat this round for 1 in (2.5 cm) or until desired height. Bind off using a stretchy bind off. Tohelp socks stay up, carry along elastic knitted thread while knitting or weave elastic thread through the stitches on theWS.
FINISHING
Weave in all yarn ends and block.
