Size: Adult 21"- 23" or Golden Retiriever!
Materials
1 ball each of KnitPicks Palette: Brass Heather, Hazelnut, White, Clarity, Edamame, Sky and small amounts of Black and Pink.. four #3 DPNs (or size needed to obtain gauge), stitch marker, and tapestry needl Gauge 32 stitches and 32 rounds = 4” using #3 needles.
Abbreviations
K2TOG = Knit two stitches together. SSK = Slip one stitch, then slip the next. Insert left needle into the front loops of the slipped stitches and knit them together from this position .
Instructions
With circular needle, CO 136 sts using White. Join to work in round, placing stitch marker and being careful not to twist stitches. Knit six rounds corrugated rib (see CHART A) using Black, Hazelnut and Brass Heather for knit sts and White for purl sts. Increase round: (Round 1 of CHART B) Using White, inc evenly to 168 sts (knit 4 sts, knit 4 make 1 around until last 4 sts, knit last 4 sts.) Follow CHART B (4 repeats per round) for 46 rounds. \*\*For smoother finish, and to avoid carrying 3 yarns at once, duplicate stitch in Hazelnut ears, black eyes and nose and pink tongue after hat is knitted. Decrease round: Round 1 of CHART C, using Clarity, dec evenly after every 5'h st for a total of 144 sts. Hat top: Follow CHART C to end, beginning round with the center stitch of decrease panel, as opposed to the far right sts. Switch to DPNs when necessary.\*\*Please see Hat Decrease Panel Explanation at end of pattern. NOTE: To dec. top, K2TOG and and then SSK two sts immediately after, according to chart. Round 22, k2tog all around, round 23, k2tog all around leaving 6 stitches. Knit last six sts for 5 rounds, cut yarn leaving a tail several inches long. Move all sts from needles to tapestry needle, and pull tightly. Secure from the inside. Finishing: Using tapestry needle and Black yarn, embroider around dog's muzzle after hat is knitted. Duplicate st eyes and noses. With Pink, duplicate st tongues. With Hazelnut, duplicate st ears, according to CHART B. Tie and weave in or trim all color change ends. Wash and block to fit. CHART A
Use Edamame, Sky and Brass Heather for knit sts and White for purl sts. Dash in st means purl.

CHART B
