To Make Pom Pom for Hat
NOTE: The images below were from another project, but the directions are the exactly the same for making a pom-pom for the Crochet Bird Hat. For this project, you're going to use homespun yarn to make the pom-pom.

To make a pom pom, wrap the yarn around your hand until it has reached your desired size. Cut the yarn you are not going to use.

Carefully remove the wrapped yarn from your hand.

Using a long piece of yarn (the primary color of your hat),tie the long piece around the wrapped yarn into a few knots.

Cut the yarn on both sides.

Trim any long pieces and feather them out until it looks like a pom pom. Using a yarn needle, slip the ends of the long piece of yarn into the inside of the hat. From inside the hat, tie the long ends into a few knots. Weave in the ends. NOTE: If you would like to make the pom pom sturdier on your hat, use yarn and a yarn needle to sew it on securely.
