Celebrity Jester Hat
by Karen Lynn Wiebusch Size: 16" circumference (toddler)
Yarn: 1 skein each, Colinette Point 5 (CC) and Cascade 220 (MC) Needles: 16" circulars, Us8 and US10 plus one extra size 10 or 11 for bind off. Gauge: 4 st/in using Cascade 220 held double and larger needle Misc: marker, yarn needle Directions: Using CC and smaller needle, cast on 50 sts. Place beg of rnd marker. Join. Purl 3 rnds. Next rnd, cut CC and change to larger needle and MC held double, \*k 4, kf&b\* to end of rnd. (60 sts) K every rnd until hat measures 6" from cast on. Change to CC and K one rnd. Place 30 sts. onto the other circular and with WS together do 3- needle bind off. Make 2 poms using both yarns and weave in ends. See page 2 for Loopy version of this hat.
Loopy version of Celebrity Jester Hat: Cast on as for Celebrity Jester Hat, work one rnd K1, P1. Rnd 2: change to larger needle and work loop stitch. Loop Stitch: from Barbara $\boldsymbol{\Theta}$ Walker, A Treasury of Knitting Patterns, pg. 135 \*Holding the yarn over the $3^{r d}$ finger of the left hand behind work, k1 (yarn forms loop around finger) but do not sl this st from needle; then transfer the st just worked back onto lefthand needle and k2 tog tbl (the st just knitted, and the original st), rpt from \* in every st to the end of the rnd. Rnd 3: Turn work to work back in the other direction. Sl the first st purlwise. Cut CC. Switch to MC doubled and \*knit 4, kf&b, rpt from \* to the end of the rnd (working every CC st from previous rnd.) 60 sts. Continue knitting rnds until piece measures 6 " from cast on edge. Cut Mc. Switch to CC and k one rnd. Finish as for Celebrity Jester Hat. \*\*1 skein of each yarn yielded me both hats (at my gauge) but for the second set of poms I had to go into my stash for leftover Cascade 220.
