
Blogger's Xmas Mittens
What better way to celebrate the coming of the festive season - and the third series of Sherlock! - than with this short and sweet project. Perfect for beginners, this pattern allows you to hone your knit-in-the-round and fair-isle techniques in order to create a pair of cute and warm mittens inspired by our favourite blogger's festive attire. Great for Sherlockian stocking stuffers! These fingerless mittens are knit entirely in the round, with traditional lcelandic colourwork motifs.
Materials:
Filatura di Crossa merino (8-ply): MC(Navy)- 1 ball; White, Red - less than % ball each Gauge: 26 sts to 10 cm in St st A set of 4 3.25 mm dpns, stitch holder, stitch markers Abbreviations: CO = cast on, BO = bind off, K- knit, P-purl, St st - stockinette stitch, Rd - round, sts - stitches, pm - place marker. CO 42 sts in MC. Join in the round, taking care not to twist sts. (K2, P2 rib) for 12 rds (around 4 cm) in MC. Continue in St st. K 1 rd in MC, increasing 2 sts evenly around - 42 sts. Next 12 rds: Work Chart 1 (7 repeats of the 6-sts-wide motif) Work 1 rd in MC
