AEGEAN GATE SCARF <>

Inspired by the beautiful blue waters of the Aegean sea, the central lace pattern of the scarf ripples to each end where the design is closed by tall, elaborate, wrought iron gates like those fronting many old houses along the Mediterranean coast. An option is to add pearl beads to each blocked end point to hang like water droplets and give the scarf some weight.

Optional Beaded edge - Slip stitch crochet
Block the scarf. Pull the last stitch of the bind off out to a large loop, thread on a bead over the loop, place your crochet hook into the loop on other side of the bead, tighten the yarn, turn and slip the hook through the last bound off stitch, hook the yarn and pull through. Repeat this slip stitch loosely along the scarf edge until you reach the next blocked pointed end. At the tip, pull the yarn loop out, thread on a bead over the loop, replace your crochet hook to other side of the bead, tighten the yarn and continue slip stitching until the next point. Repeat the process, ending with a fifth bead on the opposite edge. Slip stitch back in final stitch to hold the last bead.Tie offyarn andweave inends.
