The Yioryia Wrap
A shawl to hug your shoulders
I first got to know Georgia on Ravelry. A fellow Raveler, a New Yorker of Greek origin, she joined my team and we started chitchatting about Greece and knitting and things like that. I got to like her. I liked her even better when I met her and her husband George. They were on a cruise trip on the Aegean Islands and we arranged to meet for a cup of coffee in Athens. She came with a broad smile and her hands full of yarn, beautiful, soft yarn, the kind one doesn't easily find in Greece. I knew I would develop a special pattern for this special yarn, to honour our friendship. I came up with this original shape that "hugs" the shoulders and looks like the letter 「 which is the first letter of Georgia's name in Greek=Yioryia. I hope my patterns does justice to this wonderful person!!!
