Lucile the Pocket Bug Crochet Pattern
Designed by: Laren McMordie A note about Lucile :

Lucille is a busy little bug that loves to travel in pockets! Watch her to make sure she doesn't fall out of your pocket searching for her next great adventure! One of the neatest things about crocheting toys is that gauge doesn't matter! Woo hoo! This pattern is licensed under a Creative Commons AttributionNonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Unported License.
For thiz pattern you will need :
Yarn: 10 yards of MC and 5 yards of CC US G/6 (4 mm) crochet hook Black embroidery thread Safety eyes Scissors Tapestry needle Stuffing (l use fiberfill)
Let's get started!
Head/Body: Starting in MC... Rl: ch 2, 4 sc in second ch from hook (4) R2: 2 sc in each st around (8) R3: \*1 sc, 2 sc in next\* (repeat 4 times) (12) R4: \*2 sc, 2 sc in next st\* (repeat 4 times) (16) R5: sc in each st around (l6) R6: \*2 sc, 1 decrease in next st\* (repeat 4 times) (12) Stop and add safety eyes here. I like to place them between rows 5 and 6, 2 stitches apart. R7: sc in each st around (12) R8: \*1 sc, 1 decrease in next st\* (repeat 4 times) (8 Stuff Lucille's head now and embroider her mouth, make sure and center her mouth between her eyes (about one row down). Add her antennas by threading 2 pieces of scrap CC yarn through the top of her head, on opposite sides. Make sure and knot the tips of the yarn so they don't fray! Switch to CC. R9: 2 sc in each st around (16) Rl0-12: sc in each st around (l6) R13: \*2 sc, 1 decrease in next st\* (repeat 4 times) (12) Stuff Lucille's body. Switch to MC. R14-15: sc in each st around (12) This pattern is licensed under a Creative Commons AttributionNonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Unported License.

R16: \*1 sc, 1 decrease in next st\* (repeat 4 times) (8) Top off your stuffing in Lucille's body. R17: decrease in each st around (4) Cut your yarn and weave in any loose ends. Wings (make 2): Starting in MC... Rl: ch 2, sc 6 in second ch from hook (6) R2-4: sc in each st around (6) Cut your yarn and sew Lucille's wings to her body. Make sure to leave a long enough tail so that you have no troubles attaching her wings. I like to attach them at the top of the CC stripe (between the top and bottom sections of her body). And that's all there is to it, she's all done!

Alternate color option: If you'd like to turn Lucille into a cute little bumblebee, crochet the pattern as written but use the following color changes!

Head/Body: R1-8 Yellow Use Black for the antennas. R9-10 Black Rl1 Yellow R12-13 Black R14 Yellow R15-17 Black Wings: Use white To attach the wings of the bumblebee Lucille, place them on the top row of CC, but angle them where they are more towards the back of her body.
