TWELVE DANCING PRINCESSES WENT TO THE BALL, WORE OUT THEIR DANCING SHOES THERE, ONE AND ALL. IHEIR FATHER, THE KING, SOUGHT TO KNOW WHERE THEY WENT HOW COULD IT BE ALL OF THOSE SHOES HAD BEEN SPENT? A brave soldier followed the princesses twelve, Through trapdoor, and forests, and lake did they delve. Each leapt from her boat, shouting "Let's all go dancing!" And all through the night the young ladies kept prancing. The soldier was clever; he settled the thing, Returning with tokens to show to the King. Their late-night diversions exposed in the end, Twelve dancers retired, their slippers to mend.
