Poncho pullover 《Kapel (drop))Design: Irina Antoscha
This roomy sweater with lots of positive ease is wroked from the bottom up in back- and forth rows, later joined to the round and worked in rounds. The yoke features a 4-color stranded Fair-Isle-type pattern.
You will need:
Yarn: tweed yarn, yardage 420m/100g, [460 yds/3.5 oz], 380 g [13.5 oz] total for all colors together Needles: circular 3.25 mm [US3] for body, 3 mm [US2.5] and 2.75 mm [US2] for button band and collar Gauge: 25 sts and 38 rows/rounds = 10 cm [4 inches]. Schematic for size M, height 160 cm [5.25 ft], all measurements in drawing given in centimeters: 10-11 cm = 4-4.5 ins, 16 cm = 6.3 ins, 23-24 cm = 9-9.5 ins, 30-31 cm = 12-12.25 ins, 32 cm = 12.6 ins, 66 cm = 26 ins, 85 cm = 33.5 ins

Front/Back (make 2 identical ones)
Cast on 80 sts. Work from the bottom up, first in back and forth rows (you will later change to working in the round when instructed) and casting on new stitches, using the backwards loop co method, for the curved bottom at the end of every RS and WS row: 2 times 5 sts ea, once 4 sts, 2 times 3 sts, 3 times 2 sts, 10 times 1 st. From here on, co in every other row 3 times 1 st ea, then in the forth row once 1 st, for a total of 160 sts. (5-5-4-3-3-2-2-2-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-0-1-0-1-0-1-0-0-0-1 = 40 additional sts at ea side.) Continue working even up to the beginning of the shoulder slope. Transfer sts to a spare needle and leave on hold while you work another identical piece. When this second piece is at the beginning of the shoulder slope, combine the sts of both pieces on one needle, join to round and continue working in the round (to avoid the hassle of seaming). If you like to purl back on WS rows and find it easier, you may work both pieces separately in back- and forth-rows instead and then seam them afterwards.
Decreases
Start Front: ssk, cont working over the Front sts in pattern, at the end of the Front: k2tog, ssk, cont working over the Back sts in pattern, at the end of the Back: k2tog.

For the shoulderslope: For the initial section (the overhang over the natural shoulder line), decrease in every other row, from the begin of the actual shoulder, decrease in every row.

Double button band:
At the sides and at the bottom of the Front (and later, of the Back), pick up and knit sts for the (fake) button band, leaving a 12 cm [4.75 in] piece open from the shoulder downwards for the sleeve opening. RS facing, pick up and knit sts from left to right (This is best done with a crochet hook: p/u one st w/crochet hook, immediately transfer st to circular. The goal is to end up with the working yarn at the right edge on the RS of the fabric so it can be used there.), working 1 st inwards from the selvedge: at the side of the Front downwards, over the curved bottom and up the other side. Purl for one WS row, work 3 rows in stockinette st (knit on RS, purl on WS) and put piece aside without binding off. WS facing, now p/u the purl bumps of the sts of the first picked up row of sts and work for 3 rows in st st. Join both layers as done for three-needle-bind-off, but without binding off any sts. Knit up this one layer until the desired width of the button band and finish off with an applied I-cord edging. Sew Front and Back together, overlapping the button bands. Attach three decorative buttons. Buttonholes are not really needed, since the buttons are not functional. ?. Sleeves: At the edge of the Front and at the edge of the Back, from the shoulder line downwards in the front and back along the unoccupied 12 cm [4.75 in] section, pick up and knit sts for the sleeve. Over both layers of the button band together, p/u and knit sts the same way. Join to round and work sleeves in the rE round, tapering them slightly towards the wrist by working a few symmetrical decreases.
