Tension:

Hat is worked back and forth and seamed due to the colourwork being done in Intarsia. With 3.25mm (US 3) needles and Black, cast on 120 sts and work in K1, P1 rib for 6 rows. Next row, Change to stocking stitch, beginning with a right side knit row. Inc 1 st at the beginning of the row and K 37 sts. Place marker. Work following 47 sts from graph, place marker and end with K 37. 121 sts. Continue to work the sts on each side in stocking stitch and the stitches between the markers in stocking stitch and intarsia until hat measures 5.5" from the cast on edge. Decrease Crown: K10, (Place marker, SSK, K18) 5 times, SSK, K9 All wrong side rows: Purl Right side rows: K10, (slip marker, SSK, K to next marker) 5 times, SSK, K to end until 67 sts remain and there are no sts after the final SsK. Next and following right side rows: (SSK, K to next marker, slip marker) 5 times, SSK, K to end until 49 sts remain. Purl one row. Next row: SSK to end of row, 25 sts remain. Break yarn. Weave yarn end through remaining 25 sts. Sew back seam. Draw remaining sts of last row closed. Darn in ends.
