Hook: E/4 3.50MM
Gauge: 22 scs and 25 rows = 4 inches
Abbreviations:
Yarn: Valley Yarns Charlemont 60% Fine Superwash Merino Wool/ 20% Silk/ 20% Polyamide 100g/439 yards #1 Sock Color: Honey Gold. 1 Skein ch: chain st: stitch sl st: slip stitch sc: single crochet chsp: chain space sk: skip Finished Measurements: Top of collar is 32 inches in circumference Length (without tassles): 5.5 inches
Pattern Notes:
1. When working the scs in row 3 you will sc in the sts that are multiples of 10. For example yol sk 9 sts and sc into st #10. Skip 9 sts and sc in st #20. Skip 9 sts and sc into st #30, etc. 2. For a shorter chain you can crochet a smaller starting chain but make sure you are using multiples of ten. For example ch 130 or 120. Ch 140. Being careful not to twist the chain, sl st to the first ch to form a ring. 1. Ch 1. The ch 1 counts as the first sc in this round. Sc into the next ch and each ch in the round. Sl st to the beginning ch 1 to join. 140 sts. 2. Ch1. The ch 1 counts as the 1"t sc in this round. Sc into the next st and each st in the round. Sl st to the beginning ch 1 to join. 3. Ch 20. Skip 9 sts. Work 1 sc into the next st (st #10). \*Ch 20. Skip 9 sts. Work 1 sc into the next stitch. Repeat from \* to the end of the round. Sl st to the 1st ch of the beginning ch 20 to join. 4. Ch 20. Work 1 sc into the center of the ch20sp from the previous row. \*Ch 20. Sc into the ch20sp. Repeat from \* to the end of the row. Sl st to the first ch in the beginning ch 20 to join. 5. Ch 25. Work 1 sc into the center of the ch20sp from the previous row. \*Ch 25. Sc into the ch20sp. Repeat from \* to the end of the row. Sl st to the first ch in the beginning ch 25 to join.
Tassels:
Cut 10 stands of yarn about 10 inches long. I used a mass market paperback book to measure mine. Wrap the yarn around the book widthwise 10 times and then cut the strands. Fold the 10 strands in half. Place the strands of yarn on the side that is facing you in the center of the loop on the collar. With a crochet hook draw the yarn ends through the center of the loop on the tassel attaching it to the collar. Fasten tightly to secure the tassel to the collar. Hang the back center tassel through the 2 loops as shown in the picture below.
