CHUNKY RUFFLED BUTTON CUFFS

A lot of ruffles in a pair of chunky cuffs creates an eye-catching, "something different" accessory! Skill level: Easy EASY Size: 4.5" wide x 6.5" long (unstretched) Materials: @4 200 yds. medium weight MEDIUM yarn (Sample shown in Loops & Threads? ImpeccableTM Glitter Yarn (100% acrylic), 277 yds per 4.5 ozball) Crochet hook size US H/8 (5 mm), or size needed to achieve gauge Four buttons (1") Sewing needle & thread Tapestry needle Gauge: 14 sts & 12 rows = 4" in single crochet on size H/8 (5 mm) hook In single crochet rib pattern, 14 sts & 14 rows = 4" Terms/Abbreviations: back loop only (BLO), beginning (beg), chain (ch), decrease (dec), double crochet (dc), each (ea), hook (hk), increase (inc), loop (lp), pattern (patt), remaining (rem), repeat (rep), single crochet (sc), slip stitch (sl st), stitch (st)
Pattern notes:
Cuffis worked lengthwise in single crochet rib, then ruffles and button loops are attached along the edges. Cuff (make 2) Foundation row: Ch 11, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in ea ch across, turn (10 sc) Begin single crochet rib (Note: work in back loop only (BLO) of each stitch on every row until instructed to discontinue.) Row 1 (RS): Ch 1, sc in BLO of ea sc across, turn. Row 2 (WS): Ch 1, sc in BLO of ea sc across, turn. Rep Rows 1-2 until piece fits comfortably around wrist (e.g., 20 rows for a 6" cuff). At end of last row, turn. Discontinue working in BLO. Work button loops: Working through both loops as normal, ch 1, sc in ea of first 3 sc, ch 2, sk next sc, sc in ea of next 2 sc, ch 2, sk next sc, sc in ea of last 3 sc. Do not turn but pivot piece to work along one long edge of cuff for ruffle as follows: Ruffle: Row 1 (RS): Ch 1, sc in ea row end across, turn (20 sc) Row 2 (WS): Ch 1, work 3 sc in ea sc across, turn (60 Row 3: Ch 3, work 2 dc in first sc, work 3 dc in ea sc across, fasten off (180 dc) Finishing: Weave in ends.
