28's Cousin 53! - Scarf version II (with photos)
by Lynne Ashton This is and adaptation of the 4 ply version of the 28 Row Scarf - Short Version This version came about because I was asked if "28" could be knitted in 4 ply and really it couldn't - it would have come out too thin. This then is the version for 4 ply!

My Mum knitted the above scarf using: YARN: Knitting Goddess 4ply Luxury Sock Yarn colour Marine Blue (100gm - 400m per skein) NEEDLES: 4.5 mm - cable length 100cm NOTIoNs: A large eyed, blunt tipped tapestry GAUGE: Whatever gets you desired the effect. Abbreviations: st(s) - stitch(es) P-Purl kfb - knit into front and back of stitch K2tog - knit next 2 stitches together 1x1 Rib - K1, P1 K -Knit ktbl - knit through back of loop yO - yarn over CO - cast off loosely knit wise Using a firm cast-on (I used cable, but Long Tail would work too) cast on 130 sts. On all rows knit on all first and last sts. Row 2: K1, kfb all sts to last st, K1. - 258 sts Rows 7 & 8: Purl Rows 10 & 11: Purl Row 15: Knit Rows 16 & 17: Purl Row 21: RS K1, \*yO, K2tog\*, to last st, K1. Rows 24 & 25: Purl Rows 27 & 28: Purl Rows 30 & 31: Purl Rows 33 & 34: Purl Row 37: Knit Row 40: Knit Rows 22 & 23: Purl Row 26: as Row 21 Row 32: Knit Rows 35 & 36: Purl Rows 38 & 39: Purl Rows 41 & 42: Purl Row 43: RS K1, kfb all sts to last st, K1. - 514 sts Rows 44 to 53 (inc): K1, \*1x1 rib\* to last st, K1 CO Stitch in all ends. No need to block!
