In honour of 50 years of Jamaican independence and because I couldn't find one out there, here is a colour chart of Jamaica's flag. Add some national pride to your projects or knit it on its own, either way, please share pictures of your projects. I'd love to see what you do with it. This chart is worked over 30 stitches and 24 rows. The yarn you choose and your gauge will determine the size. About the Jamaican flag: The Jamaica National Flag was first raised on August 6, 1962, the first Jamaican Independence Day. The colours and design were chosen by a bipartisan committee to signify the birth of the nation while recognizing the country's history. Black depicts burdens the people of Jamaica have over come as well as their strength and creativity; Gold, the natural wealth of the land and beauty of sunlight; and green represents hope for the future and the nation's agricultural resources. Anastasia E White: A Canadian born Jamaican, Anastasia E White studied fine art at Langara College before attending the University of British Columbia where she received a BFA in visual art. While her studies focused on studio practice and contemporary visual art Anastasia was fascinated by language and modes of communication, in particular the fluid evolution and deaths of language and dialects. A knitter since childhood, Anastasia allows her passion for yarn, language, and art theory to inform her art practice. She lives and works in Vancouver, BC. anastasiawhite.wordpress.com @JahDoily jahdoily@gmail.com
