Size S [M, L] (Shown in size M)

Foot circumference: 6 [7, 8] inches (15 [17.5, 20] cm) unstretched. Will stretch to fit 8 [9, 10] inches (20 [23, 25.5] cm). Gauge: 32 sts/48 rows $=4"$ in st st Yarn: Fresh From the Cauldron Sock Yarn [1 $00\%$ SUPERWASH merino wool; 400yd per 100g skein]; color: lchabod Crane; 1 skein. (Or any fingering weight yarn that gives you proper gauge) Needles: 1 set US #1/2.25mm 32" circular needles or double pointed needles, or size to get gauge. This project is intended to get you off the computer and into some knitting, but you'll need to follow a crooked path to make your escape. Each sock zigzags around the leg and down the foot. The cuff and heel are worked in pixel-inspired garter blocks. You can work both socks the same, making them angle in unison, or you can work them in mirror image, your choice. The pattern is written for identical socks, with notes included for instructions on how to make them reversed. Read through entire pattern before starting. Socks shown are knit reversed for visual reference. NOTES: This pattern is worked from the cuff down with garter blocks, twisted ribbing, zigzag arrow lace, garter block heel flap, and a grafted toe. Cast on sizes are snug to allow for negative ease. The lace pattern is charted as well as written; take your pick. Zigzag Arrow Lace Pattern: (36 rows) 1. K1, TR17 (21, 25), k10. 2. Large size: work 5 times. IR: (Twisted Rib) Round 1: [K1 tbl, p1] to end of rnd. Every round is the same. When starting on a P st, twisted rib will be [P1, k1 tbl] to end. This pattern is written using the magic loop method, where half the stitches are on N1, and the other half are on N2. You can easily divide these stitches again for double pointed needles.
Cuff:
C056(64, 72) sts. Divide evenly between needles and join to begin working in the round, being careful not to twist sts when joining. Rnd 1: [k4, p4] across. Rnd 2: [P4, k4] across. Work rnds 1-2 for 1 inch. Proceed to leg.
Leg:
Work $1\;\%$ repeats of the Zigzag Arrow Lace Pattern as follows: Rnd 1: N1: Work row 1; N2: work row 19. Rnd 2: N1: Work row 2, N2: work row 20. Rnd 3: N1: Work row 3, N2: work row 21. Rnd 4: N1: Work row 4, N2: work row 22. Continue as establish until row 18 then: Rnd 18: N1: Work row 18, N2: work row 36 then continue as follows: Rnd 19: N1: Work row 19, N2: work row 1 Rnd 29: N1: Work row 20, N2: work row 2 Cont. as established, until 54 rnds have been worked. Proceed to heel.
Heel:
You will work the heel flap back and forth over the 28(32, 36) sts on N1. Leave the remaining instep sts as they are on N2 for now. You will not use them while working the heel flap. NOTE: For identical socks, work both the same. For mirror-image socks, work sock one as written and make the following addition to the second sock BEFORE starting the heel, then work the heel as written. Reverse option row: Turn. [P4, k4] across. Turn.

Gusset:
Instructions for identical socks: Set up round: With needle 1, pick up 16(18, 20) sts along slip stitch edge of heel flap, pick up 1 st in between heel flap and instep. With needle 2, work row 1 of zigzag arrow lace pattern, pick up 1 st in between instep and heel flap, pick up 16(18, 20) sts along other slip stitch edge of heel flap. 78(88, 98) sts. N1: 33(37, 41) N2: 45(51, 57) NOTE: For reversed sock, work gusset as instructed except start with row 19 (instead of 1) of zigzag arrow lace pattern on instep and continue in order from there. NOTE: For both socks, you will now work the Zigzag Arrow pattern in order. Follow the chart, working the rows in order. After you work row 36, the next row will be row 1, and so on.
