Cabled Love Dress

Materials:
I hook (5.5mm) Worsted weight yarn (I used I Love This Yarn) 1 Button (for back) Needle & Thread
Stitches & Abbreviations:
Ch - chain St - stitch YO - yarn over Sl st - slip stitch Sc - single crochet Dc - double crochet Fpdc - front post double crochet (Use this tutorial by String With Style if you need help) Fpdtr - front post double treble crochet (YO 3 times, insert hook around indicated st, pull up a loop, \*YO and draw through 2 loops on hook\* Repeat \*to\* 3 times.)

\* \* - repeat steps between asterisks Cable - Skip 4 sts, fpdtr around the next 2 sts, dc in the 3rd and 4th sts that you skipped behind the two fpdtr, fpdtr around skipped sts 1 & 2 and in front of all the stitches you just made. (For more help refer to the pictures on the next 2 pages) Gauge: With I-hook, 2 inches= 7 dc & 4 rows
Notes:
-Chain 3's at the beginning of each row count as a dc. -Do not join at the end of the row unless noted. -The corners are the 4 groups of 3 dc. You should make the corner for the next row into the middle of the 3 dc. -The fpdtr are very loose, to keep them tight keep the strands on your hook clos together. The looser they are, the more of a gap you will have at the end. -The row after making the arm holes, you will be crocheting in to the chains. I worked the stitches in different colors so you can see where the stitches end up.


Pattern
0-3 Month:
Starting with I-hook, Ch 40 Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in next 3 chs, 3dc in next, dc in next 7 chs, 3dc in next, dc in next 10, 3dc in next, dc in next 7, 3dc in next, dc in last 5. Turn. (46 sts) Rows 2-4: Ch 3, dc across, putting 3 dc in middle dc of previous corner. Turn at the end of each row. (54/ 62/ 70 sts) Row 5: Ch3, dc in next 9 stitches until you get to the corner, ch 2, skip next 15 stitches, dc in next corner and the next 19 stitches until you get to the next corner, ch 2, skip next 15 stitches, dc in next corner and next 9 stitches. Join to top of ch 3, do not turn. (40 sts) \*Change colors now if desired. Row 6: Ch 3, \*2dc in next st, dc in next st,\* repeat from \* to \* around. Join to the top of ch 3. (66 sts) Row 7: Ch 3, cable, \*dc in next 2 sts, fpdc in next st, dc in next 2 sts, cable,\* repeat around to last 4 sts, dc in next 2 sts, fpdc in next st, dc in last st, sl st to ch 3. (66 sts) Row 8: Ch 3, fpdc around next 2 sts, dc in next 2 sts, fpdc around next 2 sts, \*dc in next 2 sts, fpdc in next st, dc in next 2 sts, fpdc around next 2 sts, dc in next 2 sts, fpdc around next 2 sts,\* repeat \*to\* around to last 4 sts, dc in next 2 sts, fpdc next st, dc in next st, join with sl st to top of ch 3. (66 sts) Row 9: Repeat row 8. Rows 10-22: Work these rows in the following pattern: row 7 once, row 8 twice. You should end with a row 7. (66 sts) Row 23-24: Ch 1, sc in each st around. (66 sc)
Finishing:
\*You will be working in the opening of the dress, not around the neck in the next rows. Row 1: Attach yarn to top of ch 3 from first row of dress, sc in to same stitch, sc evenly down opening until you get to the last stitch, 2sc decrease in last st of 1st side and first st of 2nd side, sc evenly up other side. Turn to work down the stitches you just made. Row 2: Ch 1, sc in same st and each st down the side until you get to the last one, 2 sc decrease skipping a stitch, sc up the other side until you get to the last 2 sts, ch 4, sc in last 2 sts. Finishing: Sew button to side opposite ch 4. Weave in all loose ends.
