This cute crocheted recorder cover or case is So simple to make and use. Its bobbles help protect the recorder inside from most bangs and drops. You can work it in any colour or yarn - perhaps your child's school colours? See p3 for more tempting combinations! The case is crocheted back and forth in rows as 6 stripes, then the seams sewn using whatever sewing stitch you like. Either crochet some chains at the corners or sew on some ribbons, and you're done. Easy! Crochet techniques that you need to know: (UK terms): ch, dc, tr (equivalent US terms): ch, sc, dc The pattern is written in UK crocheting terms. It was entirely inspired by Tamara Kelly's brilliantly beautiful Blackberry Salad blanket. Although her pattern is in US crochet terms, do check it out for more detailed info.

Adaptations

If you want to lengthen the recorder case, you can elongate it in multiples of 4 chains or use a bigger crochet hook; if you want to shorten it, decrease the number of chains in multiples of 4 or use a smaller crochet hook; if you want it wider or narrower, then change the number of rows that you Crochet. This pattern fits my daughter's descant recorder snugly, using DK weight yarn. If you choose to use a different weight of yarn then I recommend that you crochet a few test stripes to check the length and calculate how many chains you'll need: measure how long you wish the recorder case to be in inches (A) on your test stripes, count how many chains you used to the inch (B) A x B plus 3 = number of foundations chains you'll need.
