Finished Measurements: 8" x 3" Gauge: 8 st/inch on stockinette stitch Yarn: Jojoland Melody Superwash 220 yards 50 g. Color: Cinnabar Flare. 1 skein Needles: Set of four (4) double pointed needles size 1. Notions: Stitch marker, contrasting yarn
Directions (make 2):
CO 54 stitches. Distribute stitches evenly on three needles. Join in round being careful not to twist stitches. Mark beginning of round. K two rounds, p one round, k one round, p one round. K around for approximately 5 inches from cast on edge.
Thumb opening:
K3 stitches, slip the next 9 stitches to a holder or on contrasting color yarn for thumb. CO 9 stitches over these stitches for other side of thumb. K to end of round. K around for 2 more inches.
Make Ruffle:
(K1, M1) repeat around - 108 st K four rounds, p one round, k one round, bind Off
Thumb:
K the 9 stitches from holder for thumb, pick up and k 9 stitches in the cast-on stitches at base of thumb, distribute on three needles - 18 sts. Work in rounds until thumb measures 1 1/4 inches. P one round, k one round, bind off.
Finishing: Sew in ends and block to open up the ruffle Abbreviations: CO cast on kknit ppurl m1 make one
Pattern Notes:
If you want the mitts to look like the picture, start at the beginning of an orange color on the skein of yarn. When knitting the thumb find the color along the skein that matches the live stitches and begin there.
