\~ Norwegian Girl Sweater \~
Feminine Norwegian sweater, with cute selbu roses. Knitted in the round with yoke - practically seamless. Size:WomensS/M(Size36/38) US needle112-2.5mm USneedles212-3.0mm Circularneedles32inches-80cm Yarn: Drops Alpaca by Garnstudio (weight: sport/5 ply) - or a yarn of your choice that knits to the gauge. Gauge: 23 sts and 30 rows = 4 inches Remember to test your gauge by knitting a sample! Put a marker at the beginning of the round. Knit border: 10 rounds of seed sts, or k2, p2. Switch to needle Us 21/2 - 3 mm, and continue in stockinette until the body measures approx. 14 inches / 35 cm (or more, if you prefer a longer sweater). Mark the middle (after 94 sts) of your work. Bind off 10 sts (5 sts on each side of the marker) for the sleeves.

\~ Sleeves: Cast on 46 stitches on US needle 1,5 (2,5 mm). Put a marker at the beginning of the round. Knit same border as on body, 10 rounds. Switch to US needle 2,5 (3 mm) and knit stockinette til sleeve measures approx. 3 inches / 7 cm. Increase 2 sts, one stitch on each side of the marker. Continue increasing 2 sts every 7th round - until you reach 82 sts. Knit til desired sleeve length, mine was approx.19 in / 48 cm. Bind off 10 sts at the bottom of each sleeve; that is binding off 5 sts on each side of the markers. Join the sleeves and the body on the same 32" circular needle, and make sure the bottom of the sleeve matches the bound off stitches in thebody. The total amount of stitches on the needle should nowbe 312. Knit 3 rounds of stockinette before starting on the sweater pattern and the yoke. Knitting the pattern: Decrease evenly the specified amount of stitches between the pattern rows, as described in the diagram. Count your stitches carefully, so the pattern repeats will fit after each decreased round. When the pattern is finished, on row 64, decrease 16 sts (evenly) so that you remain at a total amount of 116stsleftfortheneckline. \~ Neckline: Switch to needle US 1,5 - (2,5 mm) and knit 6 rounds of seed stitch. Bind off knitwise and purlwise. Sew in all loose ends neatly, and stitch the sleeves-openings from the inside. Good knitting - I hope you enjoy the sweater! :)Katrine If you prefer a warmer, bigger sweater, try knitting with two strands of yarn, US needle 7 (4,5 mm). If you want a looser knit sweater, just increase needle size. Tip: Make a test swatch! For going just one size up, keeping the same gauge, add 16 stitches to the cast on for the body, and 2 sts to the cast on for the sleeves. The pattern in the yoke must then be adjusted accordingly. Check out the extra pattern with the big rose on the last page - you might want to try this too !
